When I learned that my amazing Cosori air fryer had been
recalled, I have to admit I was excited about getting a replacement. Mine was
three years old and I had just been wondering if it was time to replace it. In
order to get a replacement for the recalled air fryer, I had to take picture of
it and send in all the information on my machine. But then my friend pointed
out something I had missed; you are also required to cut the cord off of the
machine.
I can certainly understand why. Apparently some of these air
fryers were catching on fire during use! They definitely didn’t want to replace
an air fryer only to find out later, through a lawsuit that the old machines
were still being used. At the same time, I did not want to cut my air fryer’s
cord! I don’t use it every day, but I use it enough not to want to be without
it. I mean, it hadn’t caught on fire yet, right? Right???
It makes me think of so many clients I have given psychic
readings to regarding their broken relationships. There’s been enough warnings,
enough red flags, both from Spirit (that little voice whispering in your head…or
finding something out exactly when you’ve asked Spirit if you should remain in
the relationship) and from outside sources. But…it hasn’t caught fire yet,
right? Maybe things will change if I just try hard enough, or if I just walk on
eggshells until things get better.
Just like the recalled air fryer, wishing and hoping won’t
make it so. Waiting for things to get better seldom works without action. I
suppose I could have taken the air fryer in to some sort of specialist, paid a
lot of money and time, and hoped that it wouldn’t catch on fire. Or, I could
replace it with something that hasn’t been a proven fire-hazard. I could have a
new start, and let that broken machine go to wherever broken machines go to. I
literally had to cut the cord.
When you trade in one life for a new one, it is scary at
first. Then, it is liberating. Over time, you may really wonder what is going
on with that person you left behind. Did they finally figure things out and
become the person you always hoped they would be? Did you train them to be a better
person for someone else? The answer is almost always a huge NO. Cut the cord.
Let them go. You are now free to mold your life into the way you have always
dreamed it would be. How lucky are you??
